GoPro Hero 3 could be the world’s best and most versatile camcorder as capturing fabulous full HD footages in ultra-wide 1440p 48fps, 1080p 60 fps and 720p 120 fps. It comes out with a much smaller body size than its predecessors, while producing ever better video quality than others. However, some users complain that they’ve met problems as they wanted to edit Hero 3 1080p 60fps footages on iMovie and Premiere. It seems that iMovie and Adobe Premiere Pro is not compatible with GoPro Hero 3 footages.

Generally speaking, MP4 file format is well compatible with software like QuickTime player, iTunes, etc. However, when it comes to edit Hero 3 1080P 60fps footages on Premiere or iMovie, it is a painful experience to some GoPro Hero 3 camera owners. Below are two examples:

Problem 1:

I’m using a GoPro Hero 3 to record my drifting in 1080p and trying to use iMovie to edit the video because I can’t use Final Cut Pro.The problem is that when I export the video, it comes out in low quality no matter how I tweak the settings in iMovie.I bought a cheap program for my iPad and that doesn’t seem to have a problem.

Problem 2:

How to create smooth slow motion using GoPro Hero 3 camera on Premiere?

1. GoPro Slow Motion

One feature I was disappointed to find the GoPro camera lacked was the awesome slow motion effects shown in the official “2X More Powerful” video. When browsing through the spec I noticed 30fps, 48fps, 60fps and 120fps, so I just assumed those super slow-mo shots in the video were created using 120fps. It turns out the 120fps framerate can only be used at 848×480, which leaves that setting pretty much obsolete in this high definition age. I soon learnt that you would need a $600 plugin named Twixtor to recreate those official GoPro slow-mo effects.

The only real solution to capture slow motion is to record in 720p at 60fps, then reduce the speed by 50% to play back at 30fps. It’s just a shame the 1080p mode doesn’t have 60fps available. Besides, once the video is captured in over 30 frames per second, Premiere will not recognize it. Users will need to convert GoPro Hero 3 to Premiere Pro MPEG-2 with 30fps if they want to edit the footages on it.

2.How to edit GoPro videos on iMovie

iMovie supported file formats: DV, DV Widescreen, HDV 1080i, HDV 720p, MPEG4 simple profile, iSight and QuickTime files like MOV or MPEG-4 with H.264 as video codec. So, if you want to import Go Pro to iMovie to edit, you need to convert Gopro file to iMovie compatible file formats like H.264, MOV or DV.

We know that iPad is really a cool media player, for listening to music, playing games as well as enjoying movies with it. But if you are reading this post here right now, you may have similar problem like mine: you import some movies or TV episodes to your iPad and these videos belong to the same series or a particular show, but your iPad just plays them one by one. Annoying! It finishes playing one file then returns to the list instead of continuing to play the next one!

Some friends may have try the way that creating playlist from iTunes and then add your video files into the list together with one song to trick the iPad into thinking that it is a song playlist. It does work for me in a way, except that when videos are played inside the iPod app but not the movie app, there is no video, only sound! Therefore, the key point is that we need to make some kind of playlist but it is used inside the movie app instead of the iPod app. Unfortunately, the movie app does not have playlist. Instead, there’s one called TV Shows which can be used as a playlist for videos.

Here is how it goes:

1. Import video files to your iPad

First of all, you need to copy video files onto your iPad, of course. If you prefer to manage media data manually like me, you can just drag and drop the videos directly onto your iPad. Once copied, the files will be placed under the Movies section.

2. Change the media kind to TV Show

Next, we need to change the media kind of these movies to TV Show and aslo change a couple of other settings on the files. IMPORTANT, make sure you SELECT ALL of the files as instructed below, don’t do this step for one file at a time.

Highlight those movie files > Right click > Get Info

Click on the Options tab and change the Media Kind to TV Show

Click on the Video tab > enter a name for the show. You can enter other info on this page as well if you want. Then click OK to close the dialog box.

Once it is set, iTunes will update the information of your movies and move them to the TV Shows section. If it doesn’t, go to your iTunes Preferences and tick on TV Shows to show it.

Why don’t I directly drag the files onto the TV Shows section at the very beginning? Well, I tried that way, but it does not change the fact that the videos are still sitting under the Movies tab. That’s why we have to configure the setting manually after the files have been copied.

OK, now your videos can almost be played continuously! Just one more step you need to do. The iPad usually orders videos by filename. So according to the filenames, the playing order may or may not be the right order you want. To specify your movies in a particular order, you can do so by setting a track number for each of them. Here is how:

1. Highlight your movie file (just one file this time and don’t forget it is now under the TV Shows section) > Right click > Get Info

2. On the Info tab, enter the track number of this movie into the, guess what, Track Number field.

If you are going to enter the track numbers for muliple movies, you can use the Previous and Next buttons at the bottom of the dialog box to navigate instead of closing and opening the box multiple times. The order will be track 1 first, then track 2 and so on, common sense.
That is it! Enjoy watching movies on your iPad!

Reference: http://www.hd-digital-camera-converter.com/article-html5-era-transition-from-flv-to-html5-ogg-webm-mp4-116941819.html

HTML5 web standard is open, reliable, highly secure, and efficient. It allows web designers and developers to create advanced graphics, typography, animations, and transitions. HTML5 is the latest version of HTML and XHTML. The HTML standard defines a single language that can be written in HTML and XML. It attempts to solve issues found in previous iterations of HTML and addresses the needs of Web Applications, an area previously not adequately covered by HTML.

HTML5 can be used as an alternative to Adobe Flash. Now that the video tag in HTML5 strongly impact the world, it is necessary for the web to pass into an HTML5 era. As we all know, the older standard videos were encoded in FLV (before MP4 was supported in Flash), so we need to convert FLV to HTML5 such as converting FLV to WebM so as to make the videos be supported by HTML5 pages.

Final Cut Pro X, FCPX, is a proud product from Apple as a professional nonlinear editing system. It is not an update to Final Cut Pro 7. A question I get asked frequently is how to improve editing speeds from FCPX. This varies, depending upon a variety of conditions. To help make the transition easier for those who actually want to use FCPX, I’m assembling 5 tips that I use while editing with FCPX. Most of these tips are things that I did in FCP7 but had to figure out how to do it in FCPX.

1. Optimize media.

Most of the Editors have one common problem that they don’t support all video formats. For example, SWF files are neither supported by Premiere, nor Vegas and FCP, so convert that video format into something suitable, such as SWF to Sony Vegas, SWF to FCP, SWF to Adobe Premiere, etc. for editing and final output.

Renders and exports are significantly faster when using optimized media (which means it is converted into ProRes 422), rather than editing camera native formats (like H.264 or AVCHD).

2. If you DON’T want to copy your media to your start up drive (the default setting)

In Preferences (Cmd +,) and uncheck “Copy files to Final Cut Events folder”. Your media will then be referenced from its original location on your hard drive (you did make a copy on your media hard drive, didn’t you?). You can also save to an Events Folder on a drive other than your startup drive.

3. Export using ProRes 422.

This format matches the format you used for optimizing – FCP X doesn’t allow you a choice. By exporting in the same format, you avoid wasting speed in transcoding from one format to another. And, from an image quality point of view, you won’t be able to tell the difference when looking at ProRes 422 vs. ProRes 422 HQ.

4. Export a Master File.

I always want to view my exported file to make sure it looks and sounds OK before compressing it. This allows me to verify that everything is good. So, I always select Share > Export Media to export my files.

5. Export to a different hard drive.

When you export to a different hard drive than the one containing your Event folder, the computer can copy the media from one hard drive and record it on a different drive which is much faster than reading and writing to the same drive.

Bonus Tips: YouTube Video Tips

In this video tips shows you some Final Cut Pro X tips including:

1. Copy and paste effects and attributes from one clip to another.
2. Shortcut for view entire Final Cut Pro X timeline.
3. Modify and customize Final Cut Pro X shortcuts.
4. Color correct footage in FCPX that appears outside a mask.
5. Using the share menu to export multiple still image formats.
6. Duplicate works similar to “Save as” in legacy versions of FCP.
7. Use duplicate to save space on your hard drive.
8. Change audio from mono to dual mono.
9. Where to look for FCPX plugins and effects?
10. Where do custom Final Cut Pro X templates and effects live on your system?

Here’s a collection of short ideas that are not worth a complete article, but can still improve working with Final Cut Pro X.

FASTER EXPORTS

Andy Orley suggests that if you are experiencing REALLY slow exports on longer projects, reset your computer to not sleep.

Open System Preferences and click the Energy Saver icon.

When the Energy Saver panel opens, click the lock in the lower left corner and sign-in with an administrator password; this allows you to make changes to this panel.

Set the Computer to sleep after some duration longer than your export, or, just set it to Never. Changing this setting doesn’t hurt your computer in the least, it just means that it will use more electricity than it would if it were sleeping.

The Display sleep settings can be anything you want, this doesn’t affect exporting.

This screen shot shows you the settings that I use on my system.

COOL COMPOUND CLIP TRICK

Each cut-down started and ended with slides and narration. So, I recorded the narration, and, rather than edit these clips into each Project directly, decided to create two compound clips: one for the open and one for the close.

Because I wanted to use these Compound clips in multiple projects, I created them in the Event Browser.

Steps:

Select the Event Browser
Choose File > New Compound clip
Double-click the Compound clip in the Event Browser to open it into the Timeline
At which point, I made the old audio inaudible (press V) and added the new audio as a separate layer

I had five of the eleven videos created when I actually listened to my narration and discovered that I misspoke a word in the opening; fortunately, I had a different take where I read all the words correctly. (Why is it that we NEVER hear these mistakes until we are deep in the middle of a project?)

Anyway, I needed to change all the narrations of the movies I’d already created. Such a pain.

This made me realize the great benefit of using Compound clips for recurring elements. All I needed to do was double-click the Compound clip from the Event Browser into the Timeline and replace the bad audio read with the good audio read.

Because the Compound clip is linked into each Project, my changes were instantly reflected into all the Projects that contained that Compound clip. I didn’t need to even open them to make the change.

Facebook continues to be the most powerful social network on the planet with hundreds of millions active users worldwide, and roughly 200 million in the United States, estimated 41.6% of the US population had a Facebook account. According to a recent survey, Facebook ranks just behind YouTube and Hulu in popularity based on the number of video streams and unique viewers per month. Businesses simply cannot ignore Facebook as part of their online marketing strategy.

“Twitter is a link economy, whereas Facebook is a picture economy. So just about every status update should include a picture. Ideas for pictures include customers, your product or service in action, employees and events. There’s no such thing as a bad picture,” said Guy Kawasaki, author of Enchantment.

Honestly, animated picture series like GIF and Flash SWF can better show your company’s image as well as making your Facebook/Twitter/YouTube contents more fun. However, many people may have a questionhow about how to upload SWF to Facebook How come? After searching Google, I found the Facebook supports almost all video file types, like 3G2, 3GP, ASF, AVI, DV, FLV, M2TS, M4V, MKV, MOD, MOV, MP4, MPEG, TOD, VOB, WMV, etc. But you will have the best luck with the MP4 format.

Then I ask Google how to fix this problem, and I told me to convert SWF to other format like .mp4, so that I can share them on social media sites. Since many friends on the BBS suggested me the Doremisoft SWF to SNS Converter (Mac SWF to SNS Converter), I downloaded it and tried, and found it does work perfectly. So here I recommend it to those who have the same problems like me here. Below are the simple guides:

1. Import the SWF you want to convert into this SWF Converter by clicking “Select Files” icon
2. Choose the output profile as MP4 or other video formats accepted by FaceBook, YouTube and most of the popular tablets.
3. Click start button to begin the conversion.

Of course, after the conversion of SWF to FLV or SWF to MOV, you can also import SWF to iMovie for editing so that you can make the flash video fancier before you share SWF to YouTube or Facebook.

How do you share your favorite clips to your friends? Remember to tell me at my FaceBook and Twitter feeds or the comments below.

With its easy-to-use interface, amazing features, and rock-solid stability, iOS is the foundation of iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. And even as others try to catch up, the technologies and features built into iOS keep your Apple devices years ahead. While Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS takes the speed and simplicity of Jelly Bean to a different level – a completely new camera experience that’s beyond smart, a new form of typing that helps you power through your messages, and much more.

iOS and Jelly Bean are really cool mobile OS that can handle most difficult task, but the problem of playing Flash. Adobe never cooperate with Apple, so it is for certain not possible to play SWF on iOS and Mac as well. As to Android OS, it used to have the Adobe Flash Player embedded till the last update, and that why so many people are busy finding the Flash Jelly Bean plugins for their Android devices but found none.

Because of that, it is difficult to import Flash SWF to iPhone 5 or SWF to Samsung Galaxy S4 for playback. How can we fix that problem? In fact, I’ve search for the answers for many times, but seldom can they meet my needs. Luckily, I found Doremisoft SWF to Jelly Bean Converter and SWF to iOS Converter, two programs for Android users and iOS users, can easily convert the SWF files for Jelly Bean and iOS.

Step 1: Load Flash SWF to the converter by clicking “Select File”.
Step 2: Click the “Next” and choose the optimized presets from the profile list to set the output formats for your iOS/ Android devices.
Step 3: Convert SWF to iOS/Jelly Bean by hitting “Next”, and then “Start”.

When the conversion is over, the converted SWF files will be perfectly shown on any iOS and Jelly Bean devices. Now try it!

What do you think of iOS, Jelly Bean and Flash? Remember to tell me at my FaceBook and Twitter feeds or the comments below.

I once avoided getting a word in on BlackBerry Z10, but a few days ago, I have bought this excellently reviewed and assessed handset and, now that I had the opportunity to play and test the device directly, I’m going to give a proper short review here.

As the BlackBerry’s first handset that runs BB10 OS, its hardware feels largely similar to those first-line Android/Windows Phone, with a dual-core 1.5GHz CPU, 16 GB of storage, and a 1280×768 pixel touch-screen.

On one hand, BlackBerry Z10 is beautiful enough in designing. It takes users a few seconds to learn how to use the swipe UI – onscreen tips are provided – but once you learn the ropes of it, the operation is quite easy. On the other hand, the built-in apps are innovative and imaginatively developed and the messaging is as excellent as expected. However, the browser isn’t as good as others since it doesn’t actually navigate to full web pages and, copying text from the entry fields and elsewhere is fussy. Anyway, it’s a strong beginning for a brand new mobile operating system.

Apart from the overall functionality, the BB10 OS is derivative and far more different from the previous BlackBerry environment so that it may scare off some BlackBerry fans. The value of a phone with a keyboard is therefore subdued by Android Phones and iPhones as arguably more powerful and full-featured.

To be frank, BlackBerry Z10 worked nicely in my tests, but it is, as far as I am concerned, still a work in progress. I appreciated some things a lot, including its newly designed virtual keyboard and camera, and the way it collects all your data into a single Hub. But it will run with just part of the applications available from its competitors, and is lack of some very popular titles. It also misses its own cloud-based eco-system for saving and sharing data, just like the Apple’s iCloud or Google Drive. And there is other missing or lagging features.

“I have an SWF file and I want to edit it in Adobe Premiere Pro. Firstly, is it possible? If this is possible can anyone recommend a way of doing it?”

As we know, Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas are extraordinary non-linear editing programs. But can they edit the Flash SWF files? Before talking that, let’s learn something about the Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas first.

Adobe Premiere Pro is a timeline-based video editing software application. It is part of the Adobe Creative Suite, a suite of graphic design, video editing and web development programs. Premiere supports .3gp, .mts, .m2ts, .dv, .flv, .f4v, .avi, .asf, .mpg, .m2v, .m4v, .mxf, .mov, .swf, .mp4, etc. In other words, it is possible to import SWF to Adobe Premiere.

As to Sony Vegas, it is a video editing software package for non-linear editing systems (NLE) originally published by Sonic Foundry, now owned and run by Sony Creative Software. Vegas supports AIFF, ATRAC, AVI, BMP, CDA, FLAC, GIF, JPG, LPEC, MMV, MP3, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, Sony M2TS, OGG, PCA, PNG, PSD, QuickTime, SFA, TGA, TIF, W64, WAV, WMA, WMV. So, you cannot transfer SWF to Sony Vegas. In this case, you need to convert SWF to AVI format which fits Vegas the most.

To do so, Doremisoft SWF to Sony Vegas Converter and SWF to Sony Vegas Converter for Mac could be the best assistant. It can not only convert SWF to Vegas video format, buy also can save the SWF files as pictures such as to convert SWF to BMP.

Below is how you can convert .swf to Vegas:
